Dr. Nusrat Sharif is currently serving as President of AWSA. She is an Immunologist, currently employed in Pfizer as Senior Principal Scientist in Immunology & Inflammation Research Unit. Her Research interests are in understanding the immune mechanisms of Autoimmune & Inflammatory Diseases and targets involved in these diseases, with the goal of finding novel therapeutics. She is currently leading a team of scientists at Pfizer. She received her Ph.D. from City University of New York in Biology (Molecular Immunology) and her Post-doctorate in Cell signaling and Macrophage Activation from Hospital For Special Surgery & Weil Medical College of Cornell University at New York. Dr. Noveera Ahmed is currently serving as Vice President of AWSA. Dr. Ahmed received her Ph.D. in Anatomy and Cell Biology from SUNY Upstate Medical University. She is currently an associate professor and Chair of the Department of Biology at St. John Fisher University. Her research interests include identifying novel proteins needed for flagellar assembly and motility, and designing effective pedagogical approaches for teaching genetics and cell biology. She is a member of the Rochester, NY jamaat, where she serves as the local Lajna Sadr. She has served AWSA as President (2014-2017) and Vice President (2012-2014). Contact Dr. Noveera Ahmed.
